How to Rock Your Wardrobe Rockabilly Style

Some people have asked why the rockabilly fashion hasn’t come back into the fashion world. Well, those people don’t need to ask anymore, because it’s back, and has been for a while now. If you’re reading this article, then it’s surely, because you want to know how to dress in the rockabilly style, and we’re going to show you how to do that now.

The Signature Pieces

As with any style, you need a few signature pieces. Signature pieces are the focal point of the outfit, such as dresses, tops, shoes and accessories. They are the items around which the rest of the outfit is thrown together. For instance, your signature pieces may be rockabilly dresses, which you then accessorize. Here is a list of items that you need to pull-off the rockabilly style:

1.Rockabilly dresses
2.Jeans with roll up ankles – make sure they’re slim-cut, but not skinny.
3.Polka dot blouses, sleeveless are best.
4.Cardigans – make sure their thin, in a block colour (preferably a pastel) and button-up.
5.Pin-up heels – these might be a little high to start with, so if so, opt for a smaller heel with a curvier foot.
6.Jackets – we live in the UK, and it gets cold, so a jacket is usually essential. Choose a short jacket that sits just above the hips. You should also make sure that the jacket is well fitted and flatters your shape, so again, emphasise your bust and hips (the latter it does by resting on the hips).

In the 1950s, the ideal body shape for women was voluptuous and curvy, so any accessories that will help you to emphasise your hips and bust, while narrowing your waist, are ideal.

Accessories

There are a number of accessories that can really help to pull this style off:

1.Thick rimmed and black glasses
2.An oversized clutch purse
3.Your hair tied up in a 50s style. You can even get away with wearing a bow.
